Research Assistants

The GeoVISTA Center at Penn State University anticipates multiple openings for Research Assistantships beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year. Available and potentially available positions are for those admitted to the Department of Geography graduate program (to pursue an MS or PhD). Most GIScience grads, whether funded by RA or TA during the academic year have opportunities for summer assistantships as well.

Applications from students interested in any aspects of GIScience represented by our faculty are welcome. Topics relating to ongoing and anticipated grant projects include: spatial cognition / human factors / use and usability of geotechnologies; geosemantics; sensor web; volunteered geographic information; geographic information retrieval and spatially-enabled text mining; geographic knowledge representation, geovisual analytics; space-time pattern analysis; geovisualization and ESDA; cartography with particular emphasis on national mapping programs.
