GeoVISTA at ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems

Several GeoVISTA members and alumni participated in the ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, held this week in Chicago.

GeoVISTA graduate affiliate Zhang Xiao presented a poster, Identifying Destinations Automatically from Human Generated Route Directions, which he co-authored with Prasenjit Mitra, Alex Klippel, and Alan MacEachren.

At the Workshop on Location-Based Social Networks, GeoVISTA graduate student Wei Luo presented a paper, Spatial-Social Network Visualization for Exploratory Data Analysis, which he co-authored with Alan MacEchren, Peifeng Yin, and Frank Hardisty.

Another GeoVISTA Grad student, Alexander Savelyev, presented at the Spatial Semantics And Ontologies workshop. His paper, Volunteered Geographic Services: Developing a Linked Data Driven Location-based Service, was co-authored with Krzysztof Janowicz, Jim Thatcher, Sen Xu, Christoph Mülligann, and Wei Luo.

GeoVISTA Faculty Associate Wang-Chien Lee co-authored three papers featured during the conference, and the work of GeoVISTA alumni Mark Gahegan and Krzysztof Janowicz was also represented.
