Anthony Robinson completes thesis, receives awards

GeoVISTA Research Assistant Anthony Robinson has completed his M.S. Thesis, titled: "Assessing Geovisualization in Epidemiology: A Design Framework for an Exploratory Toolkit" For the past two years, Anthony has worked on the NCI Geovisualization project to evaluate the use and usability of exploratory geovisualization tools in the context of cancer research. Working closely with epidemiologists at NCI and Penn State Hershey, Anthony has led efforts to design and redesign tools out of GeoVISTA Studio for epidemiology. Additionally, Anthony is the 2005 recipient of the Geography department Miller Award, as well as the EMS Centennial Travel Award from the college of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Anthony will be traveling to La Coruna, Spain in July to present research from his thesis at the 2005 meeting of the International Cartographic Association and will be using these awards to fund this travel.
