GeoVISTA at IEEE VisWeek 2010
GeoVISTA members and alums will play several key roles at the upcoming IEEE VisWeek, to be held in Salt Lake City October 24-29. VisWeek consists of three individual conferences: IEEE Visualization, IEEE Information Visualization, and IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST).
Alumnus William Pike, who now works at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is serving as a VisWeek conference Chair and as conference chair for VAST.
Alumnus Chris Weaver, now of the University of Oklahoma, will act as a chair for the InfoVis Frameworks session and the VAST Sensemaking session, as well as present a paper and two posters at VAST.
GeoVISTA Director Alan MacEachren will serve as co-chair for the VAST Best Paper & Capstone Panel, as well as present a paper he co-authored with another GeoVISTA alum, Brian Tomaszewski, who now works at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Their paper is entitled Geo-Historical Context Support for Information Foraging and Sensemaking: Conceptual Model, Implementation, and Assessment.
