GeoVISTA members at COSIT03
Four Penn State students and faculty attended the Conference on Spatial Information Theory (COSIT), September 23-28 2003, in Kartause Ittingen, Switzerland. Guoray Cai (IST Faculty and GeoVISTA affiliate), Fred Fonseca (IST Faculty and GeoVISTA affiliate), Bill Pike (Geography PhD student and GeoVISTA Research Assistant) and Boyan Brodaric (Geography PhD student) joined researchers from around the world specializing in human and computational dimensions of spatio-temporal information.
Guoray Cai presented "Communicating vague spatial concepts in human-GIS interaction: A collaborative dialogue approach", co-authored by graduate student Hongmei Wang and Geography faculty member and GeoVISTA Center Director Alan MacEachren. Bill Pike presented "Constructing semantically scalable cognitive spaces", co-authored by Geography faculty member and GeoVISTA Center Associate Director Mark Gahegan.
Proceedings from the conference are published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series and are available online through SpringerLink.
