Geographic
visualization can be used to explore physical or statistical spaces. The
image above right uses a technique which drapes a surface over a field
of attribute values. A "surface" of early spring temperature maxima in
central Pennsylvania is the result, with "peaks" and "valleys" corresponding
to high and low values of the attribute.
