nimation and three-dimensional displays.
Geographic visualization affords a researcher the ability to display and explore data using animation and three dimensionality. Right is a "frame" of an animation showing daily precipitation totals in the Susquehanna River basin, one frame for each day. The third axis in the diagram is time, and, by animating such fields through time, a researcher may be able to note space-time patterns not apparent with static, two-dimensional maps. Similar relationships may also be uncovered by animating across space or through attributes.
