The Visualizing Earth Project, completed in 1999, utilizes the educational power of remote-sensing and Geographic Information Systems as a way for students to investigate our planet, to learn about geosciences, and to develop skills of geographic visualization, problem-solving, and investigative learning.

Research Project Goals:

1. Promote fundamental research in cognition and visualization

2. Adapt existing GIS technology and data sources for ease of use in schools

3. Develop model curriculum at the middle school level to support cognition and visualization research support implementation of national education standards in science, math and geography
