A new version of the GeoViz Toolkit, developed by Frank Hardisty,
is now available for download. The GeoViz Toolkit was developed
for the visualization of multidimensional, geographic data. The
Toolkit adapts a sample of GeoVISTA Studio components into a more
"user-friendly" environment and coordinates them to support
analysis of multivariate relationships in geographic space.
The latest version, GeoViz Toolkit Version 0.82, contains numerous
improvements and bug fixes. Noteworthy in this release is the re-introduction
of space-filling visualization, and the capacity for adding annotations
to visualization sessions.

GeoVISTA Research Associate Frank Hardisty led a day-long workshop
highlighting the GeoViz Toolkit, software that he developed based
on GeoVISTA Studio. The workshop was held in Harrisburg,
PA, on July 11th, and was organized jointly by Hardisty and Dr.
Gene Lengerich of the Department Public Health Sciences at Penn
State's College of Medicine. Representatives from at least 5 state
Comprehensive Cancer Control (CCC) programs, including New Jersey,
New York, South Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky, as well as representatives
from the CDC, attended. The workshop introduced attendees to the
use GeoViz Toolkit for epidemiological studies, as well as requested
their professional evaluation of the software. The workshop is part
of GeoVISTA's on-going CDC
ESDA project, which conducts research to systematically evaluate
and compare the strengths and weaknesses of Exploratory Spatial
Data Analysis (ESDA) and spatial statistical methods for prostate
cancer for use by state-based CCC programs.
